These units can share waypoints with the optional data sharing cable ($30). This is by far the best deal we have seen on a 9″ unit with CHIRP SideVu and maps EVER!!!

Garmin echoMAP 95sv – Canada – 010-01393-00 with Transducer

9-inch Combo with DownVü and SideVü Scanning Sonar

  • High-contrast colour display with keypad control with preloaded Canada LakeVü™ HD maps
  • Built-in DownVü and SideVü scanning sonar with the clearest images on the water
  • Built-in 500 W (RMS) HD-ID™ sonar (4,000 W peak-to-peak)
  • 5 Hz Internal GPS updates position and heading 5 times per second
  • Tilting, quick-disconnect mount

echoMAP 95sv includes a 9-inch high-contrast colour display with automatic backlight adjustment. Fast, responsive 5 Hz GPS/GLONASS refreshes your position and heading 5 times each second to make your movement on the screen more fluid. echoMAP comes with 1 transducer for 77/200 kHz HD-ID sonar and Garmin DownVü™/SideVü™, the clearest scanning sonars on the water. It also supports Minn Kota® and MotorGuide® trolling motors with integrated transducers. The combo’s cables plug directly into the mount, allowing you to quickly install and remove your device from power and the mount. Transom and trolling motor mount included.

Clearest Scanning Sonar on the Water
Garmin DownVü scanning sonar gives you a nearly photographic image of what passes below your boat. Garmin SideVü scanning sonar gives you a crisp, clear view of what lies up to 750-feet off to each side of your boat. You clearly see structure, submerged objects and fish. Traditional Garmin HD-ID sonar and both DownVü and SideVü scanning sonar are combined into one transducer. Also provides HD-ID support for Minn Kota® and MotorGuide® trolling motors with integrated transducers. The echoMAP 95sv also includes sonar-recording capability that coordinates the timing of the sonar return with your boat’s position and saves digital information for playback on a computer using free HomePort™ planning software. Use the User Data Sharing Cable to share waypoints and routes between multiple devices.

Preloaded Canada LakeVü HD Maps
Canada LakeVü HD includes the most detailed freshwater fishing maps ever. With more than 6,000 total lakes — of which 1,000 are HD lakes having 1-foot contours shoreline to shoreline — within Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan and Yukon provinces. It also includes detailed coverage of the Great Lakes and Trent Severn Waterway, so there is no need to purchase additional mapping accessories for these navigable waters. You get clearly displayed, detailed shorelines, coastlines, streams, channels and fishing locations. It also includes underwater features, such as river beds and fish attractors. Plus, Safety Shading — which allows you to input and shade your minimum depth to help you avoid running aground.

Heading and Position Refreshed 5 Times per Second
Fast, responsive 5 Hz GPS/GLONASS refreshes your position and heading 5 times each second to make your movement on the screen more fluid. It makes dropping up to 5,000 accurate waypoints and finding your way back to your secret fishing hot spots quick and easy.

Take Your echoMAP with You
When you’re off the water, it’s easy to keep your echoMAP safe and secure. You don’t have to mess with plugging and unplugging wires from the unit because the cords plug directly into the mount. This allows you to quickly install and remove your echoMAP from power and the mount.

Upgrade with the Best Garmin Maps on the Water
A single microSD™ card slot provides expandable memory for accessory map purchases such as Canada LakeVü HD Ultra or BlueChart® g2 Vision. Canada LakeVü HD Ultra and BlueChart g2 Vision provide exclusive Garmin Auto Guidance that directs you right to your hot spots by instantly creating an on-screen path based on your boat’s specifications that you can follow to avoid shallow water and other charted obstructions.

Enhanced Auto Guidance
Just enter the location where you want to go and patented Garmin Auto Guidance technology instantly searches through relevant charts to create a safe virtual pathway on the display that helps you avoid low bridges, shallow water and other charted obstructions en route.

Better still, with enhanced Version 2.0, you now have access to even more features and capabilities. You’re able to adjust the calculated Auto Guidance pathway by inserting “via” points at interim stops or landmarks along your desired route. You can easily review hazard points along your calculated path. And you can even engage your compatible Garmin autopilot to follow the Auto Guidance route, automatically. Other 2.0 enhancements give you the ability to calculate arrival times at any point on your route (great for timing arrivals to correspond with bridge openings and other time-critical events). Better still, you can now save your plotted Auto Guidance paths for future navigation by backing them up on an SD™ card with your BlueChart® g2 Vision® or Lake Vü™ HD Ultra cartography¹

GPX Waypoints Transfer
If you have waypoints, tracks or frequently used routes stored on another manufacturer’s GPS product – or on a Garmin handheld device – now it’s easier than ever to transfer those items to your new Garmin chartplotter, via industry-standard GPX software formatting. GPX is an open standard format for GPS data exchange across platforms and applications. With this easy-to-use interface technology, Garmin has taken “no waypoint left behind” to a whole new level of trade-up convenience.

Navionics SonarCharts Keep Getting Better

Screenshot_2015-01-26-10-58-27In the Navionics Boating app the SonarPhone feature allows you to have a fishfinder on your screen and create your own personal HD bathymetry map with SonarCharts Live!

The fishfinder feature enables you to view live sonar and Navionics charts, both full screen and split screen, within the same app from your kayak, runabout, or any fishing boat! Every time you connect, future SonarCharts can be enhanced with depth data from anywhere you go.

Even better, SonarCharts Live allows you to create a new personal HD bathymetry map that displays on your device in real-time while navigating. The new chart appears as an additional layer over either Nautical Charts or SonarCharts. Data is saved for individual use and can be shared with Navionics to improve SonarCharts.

What you need

To enjoy the fishfinder feature, you need the latest version of the Navionics Boating app on your Android or Apple Tablet or Smartphone and the SonarPhone T-BOX hardware which is available for purchase here.

To create maps with SonarCharts Live in the free app version, you need to make sure you purchase a Navionics+ package from Menu > Charts & Upgrades. If you have a paid version, you don’t need anything else.

Getting Started                                                                                                                            SonarPhone T-BOX

– Install the SonarPhone T-BOX device on your boat. Turn on the SonarPhone T-BOX.

– From your mobile, connect to the Wi-Fi network: Settings>Wi-Fi ON and select the “T-BOX” Network. When prompted, enter the Wi-Fi password provided to join. See the video.

– Open the Navionics Boating app. The fishfinder display will automatically appear along with SonarCharts Live creating your new personal HD bathymetry map!

With the powerful SP200 T-BOX system, you can reach depths of 240 feet with a 200kHz, Dual-Beam (20/40 degree) skimmer style transducer and temp sensor. The Skimmer style transducer can be mounted externally on the transom of your boat for high speed use or internally in fiberglass hulls, but you will lose the temp sensor option for in-hull installations.

Also included in the SP200 package is a 12 volt car plug/USB adaptor for powering your tablets or re-charging your phones

Navionics SonarCharts Now Available on Lowrance and Simrad

soanrcharts

Have you owned a Lowrance, Simrad or B&G for some time? If so, you can create greatly enhanced SonarCharts™ of your favorite boating areas with almost no effort at all!

In fact, Lowrance, Simrad and B&G models automatically store sonar data by default during everyday use, so unless you have turned trails off, the whole library of sonar logs recorded since day one may be residing on the plotter’s memory. All you have to do now is export from your chartplotter to your Navionics card and upload to our website. Once sonar logs are saved on a card, it can be plugged into a computer and the data is transferred to Navionics through the internet to generate new SonarCharts™ for you and other boaters after about one week.

Here is how: http://www.navionics.com/en/plotter-tutorial/lowrance. You can print these instructions before you go to your boat or read them on your phone while you are onboard next to your sonar.

Only Navionics accepts sonar logs from all major brands including most models of Humminbird (DAT and GPX on all models, GPX only on ION and Onix), Raymarine (SDF, NMEA, GPX) and Garmin (ADM). Check http://www.navionics.com/en/compatibility. Boaters can choose to share all of their logs at once or they can record and export specific files. Learn more about SonarCharts™ and find tutorials on how to record sonar logs.

On GPS plotters, it’s included with Navionics+, Platinum+, and HotMaps Platinum for compatible plotters. Owners of any Gold, Silver, Marine & Lakes USA, and HotMaps Premium cards can have it with Navionics Updates.

Garmin Pro-Staff – Johnston Brothers Notch Another Win!

Galway-Cavendish and Harvey-20140621-00644

For the Garmin fishing team of Corey and Chris Johnston, June ended on a fishing high note.  Corey and Chris have the latest Garmin fishing gear on their boat and competed in a Bass Tournament in Ontario on the Tri-Lakes, the Mighty Mucks Bass Open to be specific.  The yearly tournament takes place on Chemong, Buckhorn and Pigeon Lakes and Chris and Corey were among 95 other teams that were fishing for large and smallmouth bass.

After the dust settled and all the fish were caught, Corey and Chris had a final weigh-in of 21.15 lbs. which was good enough to win the tournament!  They took home a nice cash prize of nearly $5,000 and bragging rights over the other competing 95 teams.

Curve Lake First Nation 35-20140621-00639

On board, they used 2 GPSMAP 1040xs chartplotters, a GCV 10 sounder black box (for DownVu and SideVu sonar) and Canada LakeVu HD Ultra for mapping.

Great job, Chris and Corey!  Best of luck fishing the rest of the year!
